Sports 2013
There will be a "Back to Athletics Night" on August 15, 2013 starting at 7:00 pm in the cafetorium. This will be for all 7th and 8th grade parents and athletics wishing to participate in sports this year. 7th Grade parents will need to attend a presentation on sportsmanship and will also view the "It Could Happen to You Video" and a video on Hazing. 8th Grade parents and athletes will meet with their individual sports. Parents will also have the opportunity to fill out paperwork and pay fees prior to the start of practices.
All middle school fall sport seasons will start practices on August 19, 2013. Check the individual sport website to see practice times. All athletes need to have a physical sheet, risk form, and sportsmanship form into the office prior to the start of practice. Physical forms can be picked up at your physician's office, at the school office, or can be printed from our website.
Sports physicals are required EVERY YEAR. All middle school and senior high athletes will need a sports physical on or after April 15, in order for it to be valid for participation the following school year, according to the ND High School Activities Association.
Risk forms should be completed after viewing the "It Could Happen to You Video" and the sportsmanship form needs to be completed after hearing the sportsmanship orientation. All forms are also available on Wachter's Athletics webpage.
Another topic that needs to be addressed is concussions. Coaches will be giving out information about the Signs and Symptoms of concussions. Also there is a wealth of information on concusssions on the Bismarck Public Schools Sports Medicine website. Please educate yourself on this issue.
